Like their Pear Anise counterparts, these Raspberry Chocolate Macarons are delicate and luxurious all at the same time. The almond meringues have been spiced up with a hint of chocolate, and the filling replaced with a rich raspberry chocolate buttercream, made from real raspberries! To make things even better, the chocolate used is organic and Fair Trade.

As one of Cookie Elf’s smaller cookies, these Orange Almond Strips are ideal both for holiday party platters or for a nice, light winter’s snack. In the former case, they can provide an alternative to heavy dips, cakes and the like, and in the latter, they are perfect with tea, or after a walk in the woods. Even better, they are a great deal! At $20 for two dozen, that’s approximately 80 cents per cookie!

Zimtsterne are a traditional Germany holiday cookie, often baked on December 6th (the feast of St. Nicholas), and eaten throughout the advent season. Here in Canada, we can enjoy them any time of the year, but especially around the holidays, since their flavours just say Christmas: the aromatic cinnamon, the earthy hazelnut, the delicate meringue. Cookie Elf can go a little kooky for these cookies and has no shame in saying that they just might be her favourite Christmas treat.
